Unopened liquor has an indefinite shelf life. Opened liquor lasts about a year or two before it goes bad—meaning it starts losing its color and flavor. Don’t use a liquor for well drinks if you won’t use the whole bottle within two years. It does not generally become toxic, though.

What proof is black sambuca?

Sambuca is produced by the infusion of elder bush and licorice, sweetened with sugar and enhanced with a secret combination of herbs and spices. ROMANA BLACK® is 80 proof.

Is there a dark sambuca?

Black Sambuca differs from white (clear) sambuca as it’s flavouring is predominantly of infused witch elder bush, anise and liquorice, whilst white sambuca has more aromas and flavour of star anise.
