To back my theory up, we’ll be looking at the three mates in the Acotar series. Rhys first discovered the mating bond when he and Feyre were alone getting ready to leave Under the Mountain. Both Feyre and Rhys went through a horrible experience that they are both traumatized from (as shown in Acomaf).
Why does Rhysand Feyre on top?
He wanted Feyre to make her own choices, much like the freedom to choose that he gave her later on when she was staying at the Night Court after leaving Tamlin. Rhysand would easily let Feyre marry Tamlin if that’s what she wanted.
