To back my theory up, we’ll be looking at the three mates in the Acotar series. Rhys first discovered the mating bond when he and Feyre were alone getting ready to leave Under the Mountain. Both Feyre and Rhys went through a horrible experience that they are both traumatized from (as shown in Acomaf).
